The Web-based physician platform developed by the American Medical Association has made its national debut.

Amagine Inc., an AMA subsidiary, said April 19 that after two years of testing in Michigan, its online physician platform, Amagine, is now available to physicians nationwide.

More than 20 health information technology vendors have signed agreements with Amagine to make their solutions available on the single sign-on platform. Subscribers pay a monthly fee based on the number and type of solutions they plan to access. Prices range from $20 a month per physician for e-prescribing solutions to $300 per month for electronic medical record systems.

Physicians can take a free assessment that will help consultants make tailored recommendations on solutions that could benefit a practice.

"Navigating the murky water of the health IT marketplace can be daunting, and we are thrilled to be able to help physicians with the Amagine physician platform," said Robert Musacchio, PhD, senior vice president of business product solutions of Amagine. "The Amagine platform delivers tailored health IT solutions to medical practices to help physicians determine their practice needs, select the right system and qualify for federal health IT incentives."

Available on the platform are three EMR systems, e-prescribing solutions, claims management systems and clinical decision support tools -- all of which have been vetted and reviewed by consultants.

The national launch comes as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services opened up registration and attestation for physicians who can show meaningful use of an EMR system to qualify for incentive pay.

"Amagine made it easy to step into the electronic world," said James A. Taylor, DO, a family physician in Jackson, Mich. "Through a single sign-on, I can access many types of useful health IT solutions that enable me to collect data and demonstrate quality care."
