Choose wisely where to slow down to relieve your stress
LETTER — Posted March 4, 2013
Regarding “Using mindfulness to soothe physician stress” (Article, Jan. 7): I enjoyed and found myself being “mindful” as I took in information that has been very beneficial to me through the years of practicing medicine. That came to a screeching halt as I read your advice to go five miles below the speed limit on the interstate.
May I suggest that not only will that not soothe your stress, but more likely you will become the recipient of many — and may I dare say, appropriate — stress-inducing actions by your fellow drivers.
As much as I am a staunch proponent of your philosophy, our freeway system is probably not the best place to put this particular suggestion into action.
