Every age group thinks their generation is the healthiest
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted July 15, 2013
A total of 45% of millennials, Generation X and baby boomers told Aetna in a survey that they believed their own generation is the healthiest generation.
Thirty-two percent said their parents’ generation was the healthiest, and 23% said a generation younger than theirs had the best health.
More baby boomers than the other two generations said that being healthy means getting recommended screenings and checkups. But more millennials defined being healthy as having good eating habits and getting regular physical exercise.
The way the generations deal with stress differed, according to the online survey of 1,800 adults ages 25 to 64. Generation X, ages 37 to 48, and millennials, ages 26 to 36, said they eat unhealthy foods when handling stress, while baby boomers, ages 49 to 67, did not eat as poorly to deal with stress.
Regardless of the generation, most people rated their health to be an average of 70 on a 100-point scale.
